I am a gamer. I have always had some sort of videogames system in my house. Even in school, video games were used as learning aids. I can remember my first system. It was a big black box of innovative technology called a Vextrex. In the youtube video posted by tr0d at about 2:17 was one of my favorites. Scramble, I remember playing for hours attempting to get to higher levels but the progressive difficulty always prevented me. The style, then revolutionary and now simplistic, still provided hours of enjoyment. I remember the vast array of systems I have had from Vextrex, to Sega, Sega Genesis, Playstation 2, Playstation 1, laptop games, PC games, Nintendo 64, Nintendo Gameboy, Nintendo Gamecube, and currently In the 4 years that I have had an Xbox 360 system, definitely not the original thanks too two red rings of death, with all accessories and games I have spent well over $2,500 already. Video games are an escape for me, they let my mind wander into an abstract fantasy world, much the same way a good book, puzzle, movie, play, or performance would. The only exception is that I can do it in the comfort of my own home. I can escape to fantasy realms with a click of a button, a world in which I have the allusion of controlling the story and be apart of it as it unwinds. Technology certainly has improved from the days of Vextrex and I no longer play Scramble but instead am now playing Modern Warfare 2. It is a fluid first person shooter, which is presenting a new arsenal with which to fight. I usually fall for the hype of video games but for this game the hype is real. The story line continues with twists and turns leaving you with the knowledge that the saga will continue. There are new solo operations missions and the online gameplay has enough to keep replay value very high. This game is definitely an instant hit, an immediate classic. My addiction continues as I am fed by the virtual world I know as video games.
